A need for speed racing game that is better than the movie.

The movie called “Need for Speed” was so bad that people say playing in a puddle of oily water is better than watching it. Need For Speed ProStreet is better than the movie, but how does it fare against other racing games, and how does it sit within the Need For Speed series?

It’s an Improvement on the Previous Game

The removal of rubber band AI is worthy of note and is something that elevates this game above the others in the series. It means that if you are winning by a sizable margin, then you can keep winning and toast the competition. It also means that if you are losing, then you are going to have to learn to live with it and try to improve your driving skills.

Top Notch Graphics

The game drives very well, and there are marked improvements to the damage modelling. It pushes the graphics capacity of modern generation consoles, which is not a bad thing. It is good to see a game fully exploit modern console technology without holding back. On the other hand, people are going to need more expensive PCs to play it, but if you do have an expensive PC with all the bells and whistles, then you can experience graphics beyond what the Playstation and Xbox can offer.

Some Modes Are Not Worth It

The drive and drag modes are easy and will soon become tiresome, especially since they do not allow you to skip the cinematics. Do not bother too much with the high-speed races. They are fun, but they mostly exist to show off how fast it feels and to show off the game’s graphics.

Do Not Bother Keeping Up With The Story

The story is pointless, and the game is poorly named because it sets people up for a different type of game. People are expecting something closer to an arcade game, but this game is more a mix of arcade and simulator. If the game title was more focused on driving skill, then more people may like it. The fact they have kept the customisation options from the previous version is rather good.

Is The Game Boring?

Most criticisms exist around the fact that many people wanted a smash-and-bang racing game, when it is more like an F1 simulator. As a result, many people online have called the game boring. Watch a few gameplay videos before you decide for yourself.

Pros

  • Fantastic graphics
  • A good driving experience
  • The customisations are good

Cons

  • The circuit racing games are the only ones that aren’t repetitive
  • It is not as exciting as people had hoped
